ABOUT US

Get to know the bloggers behind Moonlight Gleam's Bookshelf!

Hello fellow book lovers! My name is Lucy and I'm a Canadian Book Blogger from Montreal. I'm currently a full-time university student at Concordia University to pursue a Chartered Accountancy designation at the John Molson School of Business.

Reading and reviewing has always been a passion of mine and I created Moonlight Gleam's Bookshelf on November 28, 2010 so that I could connect with other book lovers everywhere, and recommend titles that I personally enjoyed!

In addition to my passion for reading and reviewing, photography was also a big part of my life. I used to spend 72 hours a week in the dark room to print black and white film from a 35mm Pentax camera during my studies in college. Using filters and timers to create the perfect print out was something I loved, but after completing my college degree, I no longer had access to a dark room and decided to go digital. As I grew older, reading won the battle over photography and gained first place in my long list of hobbies. My other hobbies include creating natural mineral eyeshadows and coin collecting, just to name a few.

I'll be adding a bookshelf virtual tour here soon!

Crimson is a great reviewer friend of mine that joined the blog in April, 2012.
Here is a little introduction:

Hello Everyone! I'm Crimson (okay, no, I’m lying to you already. It’s a nickname. Don’t ask. It’s a long story. Also, a boring one), I’m currently finishing up my BA in English Lit (with a minor in Psychology), and I’m Canadian, eh?

I’ve been reading and writing ever since I was a wee young thing, and I completed my first novel at seventeen in my senior year of high school. Reading and writing is kind of like breathing to me. So much so that it wasn’t until I started university that I realized that this is something you can actually make a career out of.

That’s right. Writing is such a natural part of me that it took nearly eighteen years, one written novel, going to university and majoring in the wrong subject (biology), and for someone to ask me, “Oh, do you want to be a novelist?” for me to think, “Oh yeah. Someone actually has to write and publish those books I constantly read!” Um, duh moment.

So I switched my major, researched the biz, and wrote wrote wrote. Now, at twenty-one, I have written six novels (only one of which is any good, and, yes, I do plan to try to get it published! Squee!), and over a thousand read books under my belt.

I read all genres--paranormal, dystopian, contemporary, thrillers, mysteries, etc.--but I tend to read most in YA. I love the immediacy of the voices and intensity of emotions in YA. I also love books that blow me away with unique writing, dynamic characters, and need-to-know-what-happens plots.

My favourite favourite favourite thing (aside from writing) is finding that book that leaves me speechless, that has me flipping right back to the first page after I finish reading the last, that has me desperate to recommend to everyone I see (like, even random people in the grocery store, and  I’m jumping up and down going, “Read this read this read this!”, and they’re like, “Uhh, I just wanted to buy some cheese...?”).

So! That’s why I’m here. I am your new overlord--Oh, wait, no, sorry. Guest blog host! Although you can still bow down to me. If you want. Or not. I’m a pretty chill overlord.
